After reading about Liza, the witch, I kinda wondered when people stopped brutally killing women because the were accused of being witches. When I looked it up found that they never stopped, they just ceased in civilized countries. Third world countries still do it to this day, and many think it is linked to the economy and weather. Many countries such as Kenya, Ghana, Zimbabwe, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, South Africa, Uganda, and even parts of South America and India still experience these horrible crimes against the elderly. When it came down to asking why they did this, it was because they don't have enough resources to feed the women, so decide to accuse them of being and witch and murder them.

Wow! I had never thought to ask why people or when people stopped killing "witches" in the U.S. Thats really very interesting to know.

ReplyDeleteThanks for doing all that research. We tend to think killing witches is a historical problem, but we should work to end the witch holocaust today! What makes Liza Hempstock so tragic is that she's about your age.
Wow nice research Caroline it's great! But yeah it's horrible to have those countries still believe it's ok to kill a woman because she is different and beleives that she is a witch. They need to stop pro-creating if they cannot take carre of the entire population properly. Good job.

ReplyDeleteI can't believe this type of thing still happens! It is good to be aware of this type of treatment in 3rd world countries/low economic countries. By knowing this, we could help and show them this is an inhumane way to deal with their economic problems. Great research!
ReplyDeleteIt hurts me to think about a woman getting killed cause the community can't care for them. I bet most the people they kill people don't even think they are witches they just act like they do.
